Success! 0okm Accesses Nand Flash on Firmware 2.80

Yes you heard right! 0okm reports that he has successfully accessed the NAND Flash memory on Firmware 2.80 PSP's. This would leave PSP Gamers running 2.80 with a big question... Will there be a 2.80 downgrader? Well to quote 0okm, a "DG for FW2.80 is easy" thanks to Team C+D's kernel mode exploit.

Devhook Launcher/VSHEX Mod 1.65c3: CSO Cache System with WiFi Support release 2

Alright, just a teeny weeny update to Chunglam's Devhook Launcher/VSHEX Mod 1.65c3, yep, the one with the enhanced CSO cache system with WiFi support. Well, it just got even more enhanced!

Remember how in our previous post, Chunglam included Vshexmod 1.26a in the package? Well now he's just released an update to that with Vshexmod 1.26b. He's fixed some bugs and added some new stuff to improve his VSHEX Mod 1.65c3.

Devhook Launcher/VSHEX Mod 1.65c3

Changelog:

  • Fixed bug of non-working cache file generated from usbhostfs
  • Moved CSO cache index files to "ms0:/iso/cache", old index files in "ms0:/dh/thumbnail" still been used by cache system but new or updated index files will be saved to "ms0:/iso/cache"
  • Updated systemctrl_dh4se.prx and systemctrl_dh.prx from 2.71SE-C and HEN_D by Dark_AleX
  • Added nethostfs modules from IRSHELL 3.0 public release by AhMan

The changelog may be short, but nonetheless oh-so-sweet, especially for those who have been having fun with Chunglam's VSHEX Mod so far. He would like to know though if there are a lot of you guys who actually use the CSO cache system because according to him, he's putting a lot of effort into making it work but he's gotten very few feedback about it. So if you have the time, please drop him a line or two, alright?  read more »

DevHook 0.50 AND older DevHooks on your PSP

Getting Booster's DevHook 0.50 on your PSP to play 2.8x games was the present in the stocking that blew everyone's chimneys away. But let's just say that old presents should not be thrown away, too. We're talking about older versions of DevHook here. One potential reason is because the older DevHooks have better compatibility with older PSP games.
Makes sense. Hence, wraggster of DCEmu announces dodswm's hex-edited DevHook for 2.71, and DevHooks 0.45 and 0.46. With these, PSP owners can boot DevHook 0.50 for 2.8x off the Stick, and (for example) DevHook for Dark_Alex's 2.71 SE-C off the flash. One even has THREE DevHooks happily playing in his PSP. Backwards compatibility in a flash - literally, which means you might want to be careful going about with this. Here's what dodswm has to say about that process:

Note: When installing the firmware onto your mem stick, DO NOT overwrite any of the files from this package, or it will not work. Just do a normal devhook install, and the devhook folder on the mem stick root is "HD" not "DH".

CWCheat v0.1.6 REVB for DevHook 0.50

A week after CWCheat 0.1.6 REV.B was released for 2.71SE, here comes another update, this time, for DevHook version 0.50. It sure seems like we're not running out of things to do in the homebrew scene, huh? That's healthy.

Working under DevHook, this prx can cheat every devhook-compatible game under firmware emulation. It also works throughout raw-relative cheat codes such as action replay, codebreaker, gameshark, xploder, etc. Apart from this, it supports other functions useful for cheat finder and normal users, like battery, cpu/bus clock, devhook version, ms free/total space information.

Now, this is just a quick fix. Also, keep in mind that you need the database and language files, which are in the main package.

Anyway, here's the changelog:

PRX Pack v1.0 for 2.71 SE-C

Frankie has compiled some PRXs for Dark_Alex's 2.71 custom firmware (that's the 2.71 SE-C, to be more particular). Why? Well, he says it "saves time for people looking for and needing help installing these PRXs." What a nice guy, huh?

Emulation heaven: Booster's back with DevHook v0.50 - fw2.8x emulation!

Ho-ho-ho, Merry Chri-ZOMG! Did someone just mention Booster in the title? Out of nowhere and months of being MIA in the PSP scene, Booster's back with a glorious re-entry complete with streamers, confetti, and a full brass band. And you thought that he pulled a Britney Spears and abandoned the unsuspecting Kevin Federline that is the homebrew community? Time to do some rumor-squashing. And there's no better way to squash those rumors than with releasing DevHook 0.50 - which emulates fw 2.8x (yep, that means 2.80 to 2.82)!

PSP Utility X-Flash v16g

With Dark_AleX's latest 2.71 SE-C release, we're bound to have an influx of new/changed/modified/improved homebrew games/apps/emus. And when it comes to updating their homebrew, Art is pretty much a solid staple in the community and a dedicated programmer to his work. He's now released X-Flash v16g which now allows the program to start under SE-C.

The core of the program itself hasn't been changed. You'd still be able to perform all kinds of tweaks and modifications to your PSP firmware: custom XMB menu, alternate sound effects, etc. However, this version now has dual firmware support. He's stated that his program runs on 1.50 and 2.71 SE, and behaves accordingly when the PSP FW version is auto-detected at start-up.  read more »
