Legend of Hyrule Linkens Quest 2.1

Downgrade Now

Legend of Hyrule Linkens Quest 2.1 After a long absence, PSP homebrew meister Zion makes his comeback, and he's bringing along an updated copy of Legend of Hyrule: Linkens Quest.
For a short refresher: Hyrule was a most welcome title that popped up a few months ago, and while it had a few bugs, it was considered by many as an example of how far LUA games could go, given time, effort, and six days of sleepless night, at least according to Zion.

Speaking of bugs, we're happy to announce that Zion's fixed up some of the major gripes reported in previous versions of this homebrew. Everything else should handle the way you'll remember them.

Exit 2 demo for PSP
We are quite sure you had fun playing Mr Esc the first time around. Who wouldn't anyway? Imagine yourself trapped in offices, hospitals and other buildings because of real life threats such as fire and earthquakes. For all we know, this game may save our lives in the future. Besides, everybody needs an escape once in a while, in one way or another.

That is why it is such a shame the sequel Exit 2 (Kangaeru Exit in Japan) is still not being announced for a U.S. release. However, we believe there is still a way to circumvent this longing, an exit so to speak: in the form of a demo! Yeah, you read it right. There's a demo version for this action/puzzle game by Taito. You are probably fretting by now, wondering where to get it.

Actually, the demo can be downloaded below. Yey! After obtaining the file, connect your PSP via USB, may save our lives in the future. Besides, everybody needs an escape once in a while, in one way or another. navigate to PSP/GAME and create a ULJM05161 folder. Then put the EBOOT file in that folder and begin executing Houdini's and David Blaine's escape acts. The demo works perfectly fine on firmware 2.80.

You can check the Readme file here, or after you install the program onto your PC.

Tomb Raider Anniversary on its way to PSP

Downgrade Now

Tomb Raider 10 years revisited
Time flies when you're whooping ass! Can't believe it's been 10 years since Lara Croft, the first lady of video games, has conquered the virtual world. In honor of her staying power, Eidos has officially announced Tomb Raider Anniversary (formerly known as Tomb Raider: 10th Anniversary Edition) is definitely on its way to the PSP, PS2, and PC.

The upcoming game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics, the same team behind Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Legend on Xbox 360, PSP, and the upcoming DS version. The franchise has sold over 30 million copies - a world record.

Details of Tomb Raider Anniversary (including the release date) is still hush-hush but the new game is said to be a celebration of Lara Croft and the history of the Tomb Raider franchise. "Our '10th Anniversary Edition' of Tomb Raider...will appeal not only to the loyal fans of the Tomb Raider series but will also attract a totally new audience," said Eidos. That's good enough for us and the 30 million plus Croft fans out there

More "bad news on PSP sales

Downgrade Now

Sony Playstation Portable
Again, hear more "bad" news regarding PSP sales. Don't lose your cool though despite this post having shades of the repetitive annoyance of "Sony Hate" news you so rampantly see on the internet, there's something a bit bright in this one. You just have to focus your perception a bit.

In a report at ITworld.com detailing Sony's surprise at the faster-than-expected dwindling of sales of the PSP (something this post will avoid going into) there are a few nice quotes that offer something promising. Hiroshi Kamide, director of the research department at KBC Securities Japan said this:

If you aren't the type of person that gets wowed by graphics, then you should check out what has been added in this version (text taken from the release description):

PSP Dungeons 3D v0.5

Downgrade Now

PSP Dungeons 3D v0.5If you like gory first person shooters with great graphics and a distinct likeness to successful FPS games such as DOOM and Wolfenstein 3D then you'll love PSP Dungeons 3D...and it's not a new UMD Game. Yes, despite the great looking graphics and a professional touch, PSP Dungeons 3D v0.5 is actually a homebrew game, the latest to come from the likes of Charnold from our forums.

CWCheat v0.1.6

CWCheat

So you're in the third playthrough of some random game. You check your stats, your ammo and your enemy. You duck to avoid an incoming projectile, and just when you're about to aim, your opponent lunges at you, sending your character to its imminent death: for the fifth time.

Now, I'm all for challenging games and all, but sometimes games can be so difficult, it's frustrating. After all, you just want to see what happens in the end, but you can't even go to the second level because of some boss that's making you repeat the first phase because he keeps killing you (okay, I can be a total newbie sometimes, but that's another story...).

GTA: VCS Radio Stations

Vrock GTA Radio Station
So you've already sported the neon leggings and puffed-up coif Jex was talking about in her previous GTA article. Well, if you haven't immersed yourself enough in the era where really puffy 'dos are the in thing with the GTA tracklist, just hold on tight to your seats, as we're serving you the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories radio stations. And yes, they eerily scream of the '80s.

"Why not open the PSP?" - veteran developer David Perry

Downgrade Now

For a time now, across the gaming industry, there has been a strong belief that Sony is soon to come up with a new PSP. According to developers and industry players, it could probably be not exactly PSP II but at least a reworked PSP hardware unit.

Regardless of when it will happen, coming up with a next-gen PSP seems like a logical step for consoles to survive. If this then is true, what kind of rework will be done? What changes? Veteran developer Dave Perry has these thoughts in mind:

uFlash Updated for 2.71 SE-B

Downgrade Now

uFlashThe Unique Warrior, from our forums, has updated his uFlash homebrew flashing tool for those using Dark_Alex's 2.71 SE firmwares.

This version of uFlash has been updated to provide support for 2.71 SE-B custom firmware, so we would recommend you update to this version if you are using uFlash v1.50. Although uFlash 1.50 did work with 2.71 SE-B firmware,

The Unique Warrior did brick his PSP using uFlash 1.50, and therefore he has released a 2.71 SE-B specific version which should prevent this from happening.

Here's the changelog:

PiMPStreamer 0.76 - now with FLV and Youtube support

Downgrade Now

PiMPStreamer

Bringing out yet another kickass update to PiMPStreamer is none other than our favorite dev, DickyDick1969. In all seriousness though, there's a lot to look forward to in this small update. Even though he was busy with other things (hint?), he was gracious enough to add in FLV support for PiMPStreamer, along with Youtube RSS support. If you're like most of us here in QJ, and if your primary means of wasting time involves watching stupid, but funny videos on Youtube, you'll feel right at home with this new feature.

Dungeons & Dragons Tactics official movie

Downgrade Now

It certainly isn't Dennis Quaid's Dragonheart back in the '90s, but there's always that concept of the good dragon and the evil dragon and you're always compelled to choose between the two. But no matter, Atari's Dungeons and Dragons Tactics is still turn-based and MMORPGish - we may even forget that we're going to play it on the PSP in February next year. The game allows for six seats in the multiplayer mode, plus a co-op and a deathmatch. Lot of core, non-core and prestige classes will be featured. In the video, you're going to kick it up with some characters like Goblin, Solis, Valathia Nailo, Stiger of Saxa, and Gromfeng.

It's action past the sound barrier for these three downloadable Gamespot gameplay videos of Sega's Sonic Rivals. Okay, two out of three videos, since the third's a boss battle with a snapping turtle, and everyone knows haste makes waste in a Sonic boss battle.

Moto GP demo for the Playstation Portable Last September 26, Namco Bandai has released one of its titles for the PSP, MotoGP. Having gained good scores from reviews in various gaming sites, the developers have decided to share the love by releasing a demo to the public. So, if you know anyone who hasn't bought the game yet, and you need to convince them so you'd have someone to race with, then just point them to the demo so that they could give it a spin. Please note, however, that the demo runs on 2.81 Firmware.

Unless you are "lazy" like myself, I'll put this complex release into some simple sentences:
